Travel: Cambridge

Have you ever been to Cambridge? Well I did even if it was for a short time and it wasn’t during spring or summer which are apparently the best timings to visit it for it’s beauty and various colours of it’s nature.
I did go when the weather was grey and the rain seemed never end. Even if the weather wasn’t that great, I did enjoy Cambridge a lot.

There are lots of places and things you can visit in Cambridge. The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge University Botanic Garden, The Backs (a nice park to enjoy a nice walk), Mathematical Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs and King’s College Chapel. There is lots you can explore in Cambridge, but it is not what I am writing about on this blog today.

What I want to write about are the amazing fields all around the city.
I was staying in a campsite, only twenty minutes from Cambridge by bicycle. Yes, I love to go around and discover places riding my bicycle. You go through amazing fields, with wonderful colours and unbelievable views that you can’t even imagine.

Back to us. I was staying in the campsite call Highfield Farm Touring Park, this is their website if you are interested: http://www.highfieldfarmtouringpark.co.uk/
No, I am not sponsored or I am not taking any money from them. I just decided to share it with you cause I really liked this place.

It was my last day in here and the weather wasn’t the best. I did like this campsite one because it is a farm… the fresh eggs are great, I love fresh food, I love farms. Second… as they have lots of fields and they live in this beautiful place near Cambridge, they decided to share with everyone their amazing landscape. Basically behind their campsite, they left a massive field for who does stay in their campsite to have a walk and enjoy the nature, the colours and the landscapes that Cambridgeshire can offer.

I went for a walk in this field to try to get some photos at sunset. I was struggled a bit as the weather wasn’t great. Literally it was just “flat grey” as I like to describe it. So in the beginning I decided to play with the colours that this field was offering.

After a while that I was playing with compositions I finally found one that I liked. The only thing missing was the sun.
I decided to wait. I didn’t mind if it wasn’t coming out. I was enjoying already the fact that I was out in the nature, I was enjoying the smell of the fresh air, I was enjoying the walk, I was enjoying the colours of this amazing fields all around me. I was happy to spend some time for myself and do what I love. So no, I didn’t care if the sun wasn’t coming out from this grey sky. And guess what?
At half an hour from sunset, the sun decided to come out from these grey clouds and give some of its wonderful warm light to my photo. I was really super happy and I really like this photo.

Travel: Isle of Sheppey

Hello everyone,
I had to go to Isle of Sheppey to fix the water pump of my van.
I never been there so discover a new place has been wonderful.

I stayed in a campsite called LeoBay where they also fix campervans and convert them to. Basically if you are going there and you have something on your van that is not working, well they will fix it.
Of course these services are not for free but they are reasonable, at list for me it has been. The other good side of this place is that they welcoming you offering coffee or tea, at your choice, and muffins at your arrival.
I did enjoy staying there cause they are quite easy going and everything is included in the price, laundry too.

The weather was also really nice, not too cold and not too hot. I managed to have a short swim in the sea.
As I spent here the weekend I decided to go exploring the area around and take some photos of the sunset.
From when I started until now living in the van is going well. It lets me going around on my spare time and visit new places without spending too much money in transport or accommodation.

I will be in Italy in September visiting “Le Cinque Terre” and for a personal project, as some of you know already I like to take stories of people and their portraits.

Thank you so much to have pass by this blog and to have take the time to read it. You have no idea how much I appreciate. Anyway hope you are well and don’t forget to never stop yourself to try what you would like to do. There is no fail in what we do, only experiences to learn from and to discover our self, even if sometimes can be really really hard. Just learn to do a step at the time and breathe.

Have a nice week everyone. I will see you next. Ciao.

Starting to blog

Hi everyone and welcome to this blog.
I decided to start it as I am starting to take my journey…
Where? Well I am not sure yet.
In the last years I started to discover a bit more of myself, and this year I would like to make it the year of changes.

The first change is trying to develop more documentary photography. I love talking to people and telling their story from their own prospective. I feel grateful that somebody opens up with me and lets me take their portrait.
I am still researching my portrait style but I know it will come at one point with more practice and experience.

The second change… landscape. I never tried it before and last year I started to realize that I really like it. Quite tough though and I am still learning but I like to go for walks or going for a ride with my bicycle on my own and just stay there, finding a place that inspires me, trying to find a composition and waiting for the weather to be the way I want it. I am still not really good at it but I am working on it.
Landscape photography helps me clear my mind. It makes me feel at peace with myself.

The third change… well. I just bought a van and in the end of May I am going to start living in it. It is not converted yet which is going to happen in the next months.
End of May because the contract of the house I am living in will end by then so I decided that my adventure will start from there. It’s anyway already started as in the meantime I am trying as well to be a freelance photographer while I am working full time as a bookbinder and yes… As you understood already, I would like to start a nomad life with photography as a job.

I know it won’t be easy and I know it will take a really long time to be a pro photographer and of course find my balance by living in the van, but it’s something I know I have to do.
From when I had this idea I feel lighter and happy. Yes. I am scared. Am I doing the right thing? Will it be dangerous? Will I be able to support myself only with photography? Do I really want to jump in this adventure, as I am not that young anymore and I never done something like it? Is it going to work? Lots of questions but in the end… which question about life actually has an answer?
What I know is that I don’t want to look back one day and regret I didn’t try.
With time, patience and hard work everything is possible. I think.

By sharing my adventure with you from the start I hope I will help you be inspired and learn from my mistakes and my achievement to find your own path.
So welcome to this blog. Subscribe to the newsletter to have updates on new posts or drop me an email even if it’s just to say hi.
Have a happy life and a big smile. Always forward. I’ll see you on the second post.
